Ok heres da story:
I just prepared a budget of 50000 Dhs for getting a new car... Yet i find 50000 gets me all those typical Corollas, Tiidas, and Civics.. and wanted somthin different so i found a Suzuki Jimny fully auto. for 52000 from the show room.... suggestions much appreciated.... also looking @ the daihatsu sirion as a 2nd choice...

Reconsider both of your choices man!
My advice: go used! There are a lot of great used cars out there for 50k and are much better than buying new and settling for something which isn't exactly good.

ur saying the jimny and sirion r not good? maybe theyre tiny but i dnt mind....
Basically, I need a new car.. I really want 2 avoid spending time searching and test driving used cars..... and fuel economy is a concern cuz itll b my daily driver... plus i was tempted by the leather sunroof the jimny has...

Yes, I am saying exactly that. If you still want to buy any of them, go ahead! The Jimny is old and suffers at resale. I'd rather buy a Civic for 52k. Even if I get a base model. I am still saying this, go used, you'll save some cash and maybe even land a great deal. It'll take some time etc. but it is worth it. You'll save the cash that you'll lose in the first year. (resale value decreases the most in the first year).
Leather and sunroof, for 52k? Sounds tempting.

both are not that great to re-sell

Depends on how many years you want to keep the car!
Suzukis and Daihatsus are hard to sell, which means you buy cheap, and you sell also cheap.

Suzuki has really improved on quality and their new models are pretty slick. Brand value is not that great.

I would recommend same as TNT to go slightly used.

If you really want new (and yes there is something about a new car..the smell, the mental comfort, warranty, ..) then look also into other ones like the american models that also are on offer at good offers. Like the Fords, Chevys and hey even Cadillacs. A lot of the dealers are giving 3-4 years warranty and free service...that ought to be worth something.

Sadly, there are a very few of them for sale because people don't buy them much.

I drove a wee Suzuki Jimmy in Spain a couple of years ago, It was not a bad little thing! It was a bit like driving a small see saw, had little in the way of "toys" inside but, did have, a lot of character and was fun. Do not know if the trim levels were the same as the UAE offering but the one i drove was a bit spartan.

Hey WSF...did you ultimately buy the Jimny?
I used to drive Jimny's every year while in holidays so I can only comment on the driving but not on the maintenance.
The Suzuki ad's are correct, it's a fullly capable mini 4x4 offroad, with good ride in urban driving and with modest ride on highways/long drives.

I'm actually planning to buy one for beach fun in Dubai. I wonder if you settled for the Jimny in 2006 and how happy are you with the service/maintenance in UAE.

servicing??? up till now im getting free servicing from the Dealer... :D but im aware the resale value might be an issue but spare parts r not much of a concern...

i liked the car when i 1st saw it.... more expensive than the other cars of its class yet worth the awesome design, quality, handling and 5 star safety...
