Volkswagen Ag, Europe’s largest carmaker suspended its Poland plant during the Poland v Russia Euro 2012 game on Tuesday.

The German carmaker said about 2,000 employees watched the game on a big screen. The factory’s production line was shut down for the first time since Poland played Germany during the 2006 World Cup.

“Eighty cars less were produced because of the decision, but this is not a problem, we will catch it up later,” Volkswagen spokesman Piotr Danielewicz said. “Engagement, mood and loyalty of our employees is the key.”

Volkswagen Poznań has been present on the Polish market for more than 15 years. The company was established in 1993 as a joint venture of Volkswagen AG and Tarpan Poznań.

In 1996, Volkswagen Poznań became in 100% a daughter company of the Volkswagen AG concern, and one year later the part of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles make.

At present, our factory is, besides the Hannover factory, the second largest factory of the concern, producing the commercial vehicles.
The game ended 1-1.
